Miss 'n' Out

The Miss 'n' Out is definitely a race where you don't want to get caught sleeping.

Also known as "Devil Take the Hindmost" or "Elimination" race.  This too is a mass

start format, distance event.  The Miss 'N' Out is set up so that on a designated

lap (typically on every lap or every third lap) the last rider across the line gets

pulled from the race or "eliminated".  The race continues in this fashion until the

field is whittled down to a small number of riders.  At this point, there is a bell

lap and the riders battle it out for the win.  The excitement of the race is in

the "devil" happening in the back of the field.  The riders in the back are usually

trying to move up a few spots in the field so as not to get caught last across

the line, whereas the riders at the front will keep a steadier pace.  The back of

the race can be packed with action as nerves and skill collide.
