Race for Tara
In 2007, one of the greatest riders known
in the sport of mountain bike racing suffered a tremendous crash while
competing in the Jeep King of the Mountain Series at Beaver Mountain,
Colorado. After being airlifted to the hospital and undergoing
surgery, Tara Llanes was left paralyzed from the waist down.
Suffering from a spinal cord injury hasn't stopped Tara. She continues to push herself in every way possible. As far back as the early 90's, Tara was emerging as one of the top female downhill and dual slalom racers. Always kind and always a professional. Tara raced her way to national champion by being the consummate racer. In 2007, she suffered a fate no one could ever imagine. As a result of her injury, Tara has a long road to recovery. Rehab, home modifications, wheels chairs, transportation and travel are costly. Now the fine folks at Northstar Resort will be hosting a Downhill fund raising event. In it's 3rd year now, the course boasts a hair raising, bone chilling 4 mile descent that is sure to make your eye balls bleed. Proceeds benefit Tara's medical bills. Even if you don't want to race, there is a place on their web page where you can simply donate. What's 20 bucks in the grand scheme of things?
