Track Racing

Ever wonder what it's like to do NASCAR on a bicycle?  Welcome to the Velodrome!  The Velodrome is typically a 333 meter oval track made of cement or wood.  With a steep bank on either curve, you are bound for speed.


The Track Bike.  Track bikes are fixed gear road bikes that do not have brakes.  You need control over the pedals to slow down or stop.  Most riders will push anywhere from an 88 to a 92 tooth gear.  That's a big cookie.  Depending on ability and power, some will go even higher.

Track Racing.  Track racing is a lot like horse racing.  There are subtle tactics and jockying for position.  You have to keep your eyes open and your wits about you.  You never know when a competitor will attack.
